CFE progress review in Belarus

CFE progress review in Belarus

Due to the project in Belarus the national NGOs have had a great opportunity to raise their capacities in implementing practical activities. 3 local adaptation plans for local communities were developed. These LAPs have been developed for the first time in Belarus and were highly appreciated by the staff the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental protection. Now the local authorities want to replicate the gained experience on other communities.

The practical activities on adaptation to climate change took place in 3 districts – Chausy, Motol and Sporovo. As a result mini-projects of landscape design were implemented in 2 communities – Chausy and Motol. Moreover now the local authorities in Motol have an opportunity to monitor possible fires in the region due to the quadcopter. The vulnerability of water supply system has been reduced in Sporovo due to the development of new technologies (the population now uses special barrels for collecting rain water), water filters have been installed in one of the local schools.

The national media-campaign has hit the headlines. Belorussian are seeing the social advertisement on TV  and public transport. 3 short videos were created on the following topics: heat waves (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GZTbey6sB4Y), unfavourable weather conditions (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RkBRdMeEhV4) and ticks prevention (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_NDcGIsWQbo).
