Kick-off meeting in Georgia
On April 3rd Climate Forum East II Kick-off meeting took place in Betsy’s Hotel Tbilisi.
More than 30 participants from several NGO’s, Ministry of Environment and civil society participated in CfE II Kick-off meeting.
Nia Burtikashvili, deputy secretary general of Georgia Red Cross Society welcomed guests and afterwards Anano Skhirtladze, CfE project coordinator provided guests with Climate forum East I achievements and presented CFE II.
Maya Tskhvaradze, Representative from the Ministry of Environment and Natural Recourses presented the achievements, ongoing projects and future plans of the Ministry. After the presentation invited guests had many questions about green covers in the city, emissions, was mentioned lack of city greening, was given recommendations and was given the notes what needs to be improved.
Kahka Mamuladze, head of GRCS DM department provided guests with information how the disaster management team works during landslides, floods and different natural disasters and what are the achievements within the project.
Presentation of the National Climate Vulnerability Assessment in Georgia within CfE I was presented by Ina Vachiberidze, sub-regional coordinator for CfE II.
Presentation caused very high interest and afterwards the participants had chance to ask questions.
Ilia Osepashvili, representative from World Wide Fund of Nature (WWF) also presented the organization and invited guests had a chance to better understand how WWF works in Georgia.
Second part of the day was dedicated to Climate forum East II. Was conducted a presentation about the project, duration of it and what we want to achieve. Was given the information to the network members and invited guests about the sub-granting system and local adaptation plan.
